General:
Annual or biennial herb from a taproot; stems decumbent to ascending, branched, hairy, the hairs star-shaped, 20-60 cm tall.
Leaves:
Basal leaves absent; stem leaves alternate, blades 1.5-4 cm long, heart- to kidney-shaped, inconspicuously 5-lobed, toothed, with stalks much longer than the blades.
Flowers:
Inflorescence of many flowers in axillary clusters or subterminal panicles; petals 5, pale blue-lavender to almost white, 8-12 mm long, 2-4 times as long as the calyces; calyces 4-6 mm long, shallowly lobed, the bractlets linear.
Fruits:
Carpels, numerous in flat disks, rounded, glabrous on the back (minutely short-hairy); seeds 1.

Habitat / Range

Mesic to dry roadsides and waste places in the lowland, steppe and montane zones; infrequent in S BC; introduced from Eurasia.
